Maintenance. CHECK BOTTOM ARM TUBES!
locost7c20xe - 12/5/13 at 07:43 PM

Hi everyone I recently had a bottom arm tube fail on my locost 7, the tube that is CDS (cold drawn seamless) that joins the lower front bottom arm onto the chassis split while driving at 50mph so have a good look over them check for cracks and probably change them as my car is 14 years old this summer. Thanks Tom

Posting a couple of photos of the failed part would help others.. Sounds scary..

There have been several wishbone failures documented on here in the past. If it has split is around one of the inner mounting bushes, this is usually caused by the crush tube within polybushes rusting and seizing up so the wishbone flexes instead of the bush rotating.

If that's the case, I'm glad I fitted bonded rubber bushes to mine
