I'm currently running an Escort axle in a BEC and am wondering if its possible to convert to disks on the rear? has anyone done this to a live
axle, it looks like there is not much room for the calipers?
Then i got to thinking that perhaps I'd be better off goning the whole hog and changing to de deon, that way the disk problem shold be resolved
and I'd be able to fit a better ratio diff.
The next question to raise its head is do i stay with the escort width or go to the sierra width? has anyone done either?

Starting with the disk conversion sounds good to me what disks did you use? I gather you used 206 rear calipers, they look quite compact from your
photo but i couldn't see the handbrake cable!

Discs were Fiesta (fronts) - the centres needed machining a tiny bit to allow them to fit over the end of the half shaft. Handbrake cables were also
206 (I think other Peugeot and Citroen would also fit)
I remember posting a picture of the caliper brackets a while ago but they are pretty much dependent on where your trailing arm brackets are
positioned.
A relatively simple conversion!

if you cut off both of these chassis sections, won't the chassis mount for the panhard rod go all wobbly?
Sorry, did'nt make the above picture clear. It's a modified pic of a modified pic. The 'to cut' was already there with the old
position of the chassis rail. I erased the old chassis rail and put the new shape in red but did'nt erase the wording.
Depending on the pickup point for the panhard rod on the back of the dedion it will hit the chassis member with a normal poly and bolt. You can
sometimes get around this by using a rosejoint instead which improves clearance.
For a proper decent clearance most dedion chassis designs have the dog leg in that rail (matching otherside too) or a similar re-design.
i didnt have to do anything and the de dion fits ok... uses sierra running gear though...
check out andyharding's photo archive, he did it too..
It's all down to what de-dion your using and how the panhard rod is located on it.
Book chassis with MK dedion (Which appears to be the same as the free plans available) or GTS dedion without a rosejoint and you'll get contact
problems on full drop on that side.
Very common practice to convert to discs on live axle rally cars, I'm sure people like TAS or Rally Design do brackets to suit.
