Plumbed in Fire Extinguishers
Guinness - 2/5/07 at 08:11 PM

Just bought a plumbed in system from Nick, for £1!!!

Question is how do I fit it? At the moment I have a bottle with a lever type cap that has a few holes in it. One complete pull cable and red t piece, one cable outer with no inner. One short length of hose and 1 t-piece.

Can anyone help me design the system?

I was thinking as the car is mainly used on the road, with occasional track use, I'd put two nozzles in the bottom of the dash, one each onto the passenger and driver and another under the bonnet over the fuel pump / filter pointing at the carbs?

Also any ideas where to get the parts from? I've found some bits on Raldes and some at Merlinmotorsports.

Cheers

Mike

When I built my car, it was intended for road and the 750 locost series, so I plumbed mine in as I was building. My system is 'Lifeline 2000'. The cylinder is in the boot, and it is plumbed on from there.

If you look in my photo archive, in the folder 'Fozzmobile April 2007' you will see where I have fitted the pulls. You will also see, in the engine bay, a little blue nozzle pointing toward the carbs.

I really wouldn't like to say which is the best way to, retro-fit one.

The nozzle in the cockpit, must be carfeully placed, as the chemical can be quite nasty. The nozzle has a spray radius, that must be calculated to where fire is most likely to occur, so...not directly toward the face.

Hope this helps a bit,
Fozzie

Lifeline fitting instructions here under Useful Information, may be some help.

Thanks peeps!

Fozzie, that's the first time I've seen a photo of your engine bay! Wow!

I think I'll be leaving my bonnet firmly on at Stoneleigh!

Overall it looks like Demon Theives are cheapest for the various components.

Cheers

Aww don't worry Mike, I wont be at Stoneleigh!

Cheers for posting Lifelines website, Wicket....I didn't even realize they had one!

Edit to say.... Thanks for the kind comments re my engine bay Mike, its been SVA'd 3 years (well, 3rd birthday at the end of June), and I am still getting 'heaps' about its ... errrm, cleaness

RS do all the push fittings and pipe.

I think it's all in 6mm.
