I am looking to buy a Robin Hood, firstly is this a good idea?, also is it possible to put a Bike engine in to one, what would i need to convert from
a pinto to a GSXR engine?
This will be my first kit car so any advice would be appreciated.
Anyone? Had 27 views but no help yet.
The only thing I would say is that a RH is a heavy car compared to mk ect which for a bike engine is not ideal so if you can go for a different car
and also add up the costs you may find in todays market its cheaper to buy 1 with a bike engine in allready rather than converting one.

Its definately possible to fit a bike engine but im not sure what you will need as im going car engine route in my Luego.
Depending on what robinhood model it is, they can be very heavy cars so not sure how suitable ?? I know the 2B chassis is very heavy compared to a
Locost type chassis.
Hope this is of some help, might be worth trying the RHOCAR website, lots of info on there, a friend of mine is the local area secretary so will try
to find out a bit more if i can,
Regards Andy
You'd be better with a normal locost or any other brand, MK MNR etc. rather than a robin hood, as they are very heavy in comparison and not ideally suited to a BEC really.
All the guy could tell me was it is a Mk2 if that helps?
I looked at getting one when i first started out, just becuase they were so much cheaper than others, the problem is even complete they arn't
worth an aweful lot (check ebay, all the cheaper 7 style cars are robin hoods).
Then I decided I wanted a bec, and as soon as you do the maths on the weight it would put a big dent in performance.
I figured why the hell would I want a noisy, revy, low torque engine and then have its redeeming feature (power to weight) blunted by shoving it in
one of the heaviest kit cars.
If your after cheap, then buy a part built MK or similar and put a bike engine in that.

Probably means a Series 2 which IIRC are based on sierra front end. Body will be a monocoque with no real "chassis".
In my opinion id steer away from RH and go for a ready built BEC. Just my opinon though

Cool, thanks for the advice.
So does anyone have a part built or nearly finished car they are looking to sell? I already have an engine lined up so it does not matter if it dont
have one, cant post in the Wanted section yet so thought i would ask on here until i can.
Anything considered.
i have a locost r1 and down the road from you if you want to c what they go like
Cheers for the offer mate but a mate has a Blade Locost and he let me play in that for a day, that is what started this addiction i am getting.
The Mk2 is a monocoque and lighter than the 2b, there is at least one monocoque with a bike engine which I have seen going very well at a track day and a 2b with a blackbird motor.
