Couldn't find a proper side view in my archive Ben thought you would like this one anyway ! the times should give you a bit of encouragement with your turbo build

Ben_Copeland - 20/10/09 at 09:22 PM

LocoR1, Any chance of a height measurement off the floor for the front and rear bars?

001Ben - 20/10/09 at 09:35 PM

looking very good Dave. Your car always encourages me to improve mine.

Bugger its cold in the garage

floor to top of the front bar is 89cm
floor to top of the rear bar is 94cm

Just make sure that a line from the the top of the rear hoop to the top of the front hoop passes a least three inches above your head. If no front hoop then take the line to the next solid structure.

Thanks for all of the pics guys.

Marcus - 21/10/09 at 07:03 PM

I'm sure I read somewhere that the double bends in the front legs of some of those cages are not MSA compliant anymore. Something to note if you're going to do any competition in the car.

001Ben - 22/10/09 at 08:44 AM

thanks Marcus, i did read that earlier on another thread.

Striker Chris. Could you please post a pic of your rollbar and windscreen as that looks pretty good. How easy was it to do and how is the glass held in place?

StrikerChris - 22/10/09 at 11:38 AM

The only pic i've really got!
Just welded a 10mm strip around the windscreen hoop and glued the screen in with some stuff donated by mr autoglass down the road. The hardest bit for me was profiling the ends of the tube for welding.Mating them on the corners of the hoops made it a right royal pain in the ar*e! Other pics are here if they're any help to you. Build

This is interesting.

I'd love a cage, just for the added safety when out for a drive and with my son in the car, not for MSA track use.

Currently have a RAC roll bar and would love to weld to this to form a cage. Not sure if this is advisable/possible?

MikeR - 25/10/09 at 05:51 PM

Just to add - my parents delivered the Steel Joe (Welderman) bent and cut for me. Not measured up or had chance to unwrap it but from a quick placing it on my chassis it looks perfect.

(mum was saying how nice his orange car was today as well!)
