How much for a chassis powdercoat?
tegwin - 1/2/07 at 11:59 PM

As in the title basically... How much should I expect to be paying for a shotblast and powder coat of the chassis?

stevec - 2/2/07 at 12:04 AM

Around £150 to £200 wont be far off and worth every penny.
Steve.

nearer £250 for a proper job.

don't scrimp on it.

a cheap job can lead to real hassle when it all goes tits up

don't ask how i know that!

hi there, I'm going to be starting my chassis build soon and would like to get it powder coated. I'm in edinbrugh where's the cheapo place nr Glasgow?
thanks,
jamie

You probably don't want a cheapo job.
Proper job involves it being blasted and degreased first.

I've seen powdercoat come off in big sheets when water got underneath it because the steel preparation wasn't done properly.

Some of the dodgy ones don't blast even when you pay for it...

your prob right...the whole point is so that it stays on and protects the chassis for a long time....

I had my chassis sand blasted, etch primed and powder coated for a quoted £300, but I actually paid them £350 so they would do the job extra carefully. You can not easily redo a coating so it needs doing right first time.

They did a superb job which I coudnt fault, that is rare for me to say about a sub contracted job.

That's where I had mine done, they did a good job too. I've heard if you go at the weekend and don't need a receipt.........
