Cool, but Pricey.
Could buy the components for a fraction....

You find all the bits, except the moulding putty, on ebay at a lot cheaper price and you get more for your money too. Excellent videos though.

Is the resin the same as fiberglass resin?
can you use f/glass resin on carbon fiber?

MakeEverything - 24/12/09 at 07:06 PM

i would think so.

I thought fibreglass used polyester and CF used epoxy?

Avoneer - 24/12/09 at 10:27 PM

Yep - epoxy for cf - it's more expensive, but clear when it sets.

Pat...

Just the colour, but otherwise, you can use both. Not much point in painting the CF, so most of us have used epoxy I would think.

The good thing about the kit is that everything is there, and you can fool around before you go spending a fortune on it later on. In theory it looks easy, but my experience has been a disaster every single time. Glass fibre, less so, because you can paint it afterwards if you get pinholes etc.

The John Dickens book from Complete Kit Car explains everything very well.

Yes, you can use either for either, but epoxy has better mechanical properties, so it's a bit of a 'waste' using polyester with CF, as CF is normally used for it's stiffness etc.

Check out clairtoo's post in the tools section of the forum if you haven't seen it.
