Greek Island Villa Holiday

Looking at booking a villa holiday on one of the Greek islands this summer. Not too bothered which island in particular but need a villa that sleeps 10 people. Having never booked a villa before, does anyone have any recommendations or useful information?

James Villas is a good place to start... I've booked through them a few times and it's always been good quality and service.

Their website makes it easy to find what you want and the prices is ok. Don't know if you could get it cheaper privately though..

Try holidaylettings.

I've used them many times for Spain. And a lot of the owners are very helpful getting you from the airport.

Good thing about booking it all yourself is the more people going the cheaper it gets. 6 of us in fuengiriola cost £200 each for a fortnight, £280 for the flights each, less than £500 for a fortnight. Apartment we rented had the full sky package and all mod comms.

Last year 5 of us had a week there in a lady's apartment while she was here for the summer. Very comfortable indeed. She had internet expat telly that was better than sky!

Be very careful about exact location of the villa last time we hire a villa in the Algrave the brochure stated it was 1.7 km from the coast it was 17!

My villa in the Algarve, was 170 metres form the coast, but the 100 metre drop from the cliff made it a bit difficult to go to the beach

We've used Villa Plus a couple of times. They've been really good - I should say that this relates to Majorca however. We do love Greece though, particularly the Sporades.

We have used owners direct before but only in the canaries worked really well.

we use homeaway for Florida bookings. I'd pay with credit card for additional protection if things go wrong with the current Greek economic climate...

Used James Villas a couple of times in Italy and Rhodes both times were great.
