Zetec aux belt tensioner

Hi all,

I need a bit of advice please. I am in the process of trying to get the alternator onto my silvertop zetec. I am pressed for space and have a tiny alternator from an earth mover of some sort which I am going to have to mount on the exhaust side low down by the engine mount due to not having the space in the intake side as the TBs are in the way.

Enough rambling ........... I need to fit a spring tensioner on the intake side, so does anyone know if there is a standard Ford part that I can use for the job? Does any zetec application have a tensioner on the intake side as standard?

Any help or advice welcomed........

Cheers

Chris

I have bike carbs on azetec and have fitted the pinto alternator beneath them fitted in an mk chasis. I have also
Fitted a sanll alternator to another zetec, both instances I have
Had to fabricate the mount. You don't need a tensioner if you
Fit the escort water pump as you can remove the serpentine belt
Set up as the pump runs the other way, you do need a ribbed pulley though for the pump
And the altenator

I had to mount mine on the exhaust side and copied an adjustable bracket from someone on here

This is my blacktop set up using the alternator as a tensioner.

thanks folks. Those photos have really helped me get my head round things. Have you had any issues using the adjuster brace as opposed to a spring tensioner?

Cheers
