does any one know what type of radiator is used in the mk indy? i have a 2007 indy and tonight for the first time in a month i went out for a drive,
but the car over heated.
limped home and there is steam coming from some where, but it was too dark to find the leak properly. checked the MK web site and it would seem they
want £135 for a rad, while a polo rad can be had from £40.. money is tight so 90 quid is a good night out with the wife.

As above, its THE rad for the job.
many thanks.
i will run the car up tonight and see where the leak is and replace as necessary.
will the polo rad handle a 2.1 pinto wich is mainly used on the road?

Check the hose routes, sizes and positions as if the polo tad is wrong Youl spend more on replacing hoses.
i have the top hose entering the rad on the passengerside and the bottom hose attaches on the drivers side. as you say it will cost to replace the
hoses.
any other type / make of rad better for this application?
ditch
Polo has both on passenger side.
Is there any markings or codes on the existing rad to help identify?
EDit
doing some googling it could well be an escort rad:

it looks similar but mine is a sealed unit with no cap on the rad.
perhaps cortina Mk 5

Where is the best place to get a fan for the rad?

Just check ebay for a universal 10-12 inch fan. £20-30 ish, can be cheaper if you hunt.
I had one of these, or it might have been the 14", whatever just fits between the polo rad on the flat side.
Seems to work, but its not super powerfull and does shake a fair bit due the fan not locating centrally. But it appears there little else available
?
