Modifying Weber DGV fuel inlet?
Right....
My Weber 32/36 DGV car has it's fuel inlet hose connector facing the engine. Not the end of the world, but it means a convoluted fuel pipe
route involving an extra metal pipe section and a P clip on the manifold.
Looking at the lid of the carb, it has a matching inlet position on the opposite (correct) side although this is blanked off.
My plan is to carefully drill out this blanked off inlet then remove the brass hose union from the existing inlet and refit into the drilled out inlet
(still with me...?)
The now redundant inlet is a plain hole @ Ø8.5mm which I will tap to M10 and fit a stainless bolt/copper washer to blank off.
My only concern is getting the brass hose union out undamaged and getting it to fit securely/leak free into the other side.
If it goes tits-up I can see myself looking for a new carb lid or having to get a threaded hose union turned up to suit (£££)
What do you reckon....?

You will just have to be careful when you drill through as the filter seats on a taper and you don't want to damage this. I have blanked my carb
off the same way as you suggest the only difference was that my carb had both fuel connections on as this was used for a fuel return. I drilled out
the brass tube because it started to turn when I tried to run a tap through.

sorry, just had a look in the weber manual i've got upstairs. i've got a 38dgas, which i just assumed they unscrew from, but in the
manual, some carbs are just shown with the tails, and some (eg the 32dgav) are just shown with no tails. but also, none of them have any refernece to
the tails, or to get fuel into the dgav... perhaps worth a try twisting one of them out with a tail wrapped in rubber for extra grip and mole grips?
its 2 dis-similar metals, so they can't be welded or anything

My problem is I've only got the one tail fitted and I'm worried about wither damaging it getting it out or not being able to get it in
tight and sealed on the other side.
My sensible head says leave it all alone - it works fine, just could look better.
I'll have a go over the weejend...

to be honest, i'd have just made the fuel hose a bit longer.
i'm a bit weird like that though, i'd rather things worked, and worked well rather than looking great. but on the odd thing, like a fuel
tank straps, i' want to put loads of effort into polished ali designs and stuff, where as the rest of the fuel system is held together with
exhaust clamps lol
