Zetec pulley help
Hi Guys
Im spending the day going over my new purchase, yesterday I noticed that the pulley (on the left in pic) wasn't sitting well as the bolt was at
an angle to the pulley, well I tightened it up a touch and it wouldn't turn so I took it all off and the bearing doesn't go all the way
through the centre so if you tighten it you're actually squashing it and it had a couple of odd washers placed behind it I assume for
spacing.
What have you guys used, any ideas other than making up a fresh pulley?
Thanks, Yodi

I don't see why you need the left pulley, you should be able to just buy a smaller belt unless that's the only way you can tension it of
course.

Do away with it and get a shorter belt.

As suggested just take the pulley off and use a shorter belt..

You're right mate after posting I sat there and thought about it with a cup of tea, exactly what I've done just waiting for parts
and yes the alternator is there lol

Looking at the route of the belt if you remove the top pulley you won,t have enough belt to wrap around the water pump pulley.

D'oh! Seems obvious now, funny how you're biased by your own setup...
Edited to say, looks better now!

Aircon????
The pulley with 3 bolts is the water pump, its been changed again slightly as the idler gave way due to bad design so I fitted a new one and bracket
and there's enough contact in my opinion.

It doesn't take much driving on the water pump.

Isn't there room for the alternator on the other side? I'm doing a tiger Avon but have mine on the other side.

Its something I am going to look into but its working well at the moment, I think I'd need a smaller alternator and still dont think it would
fit with the throttle bodies
