Fly wheel and clutch help

iv bought this



anyone know what type fly wheel it is?
the clutch is AP Lockheed sinterd clutch plate & cover plate
does anyone have any info on the clutch?

it has afew numbers on the back of the fly wheel GM 90 209 935 165 There are some more numbers but half have been ground off

The clutch plate says TILTON some has wrote in pen 64185-0-a-30 1x23 12,208 prob means nothing

the pressure plate says ap racing England

there are some drill marks which look like balancing marks

looks like a lightweight (maybe 3-4kg?) flywheel (possibly from sbd or qed) with a mount for a 7.25" clutch which looks like a single plate AP uprated/race clutch. I've just bought a similar AP clutch except mine is a twin plate type. I also have a 2.5kg flywheel which is lighter than the one in the picture. should allow the engine to rev more freely, nice upgrade

Drill marks are often used for balancing, are there correspndong marks on the flywheel, pressure plate and spacer plate on the clutch? they should all be aligned so you reassemble the clutch in the correctly balanced orientation. Assuming they have been used as one piece (ie flywheel and clutch) before, then the balancing should be ok, unless they have been balanced as one piece with a crank as well.

1x23 is 1" x 23 splines which is ford input shaft spec ie for a type 9 box.

ps i've been told my twin plate is good for 280-300bhp, so i'd guess your single plate should cope with 2-250bhp, though this is only a guess!

its got balancing marks on all 3 parts

been to a mates tonight and he has advised me not to use this as it will be far to harsh for day to day use it would be perfect for sprints etc

so ill be selling it on so ill put it in the for sale section soon

Change the sintered plate for a ceramic paddle plate and you will get more drivability, i.e more slip.

Ned, you disapoint me. You should know by now that clutches are rated by torque not power.

Gazza,

Of course I know this, but most people rate xe's by power rather than torque, and most engines around a certain power output wil produce similar torque as they are of course related. I can't even remember the torque figures they make anyway, is it 160lb/ft standard and around 200lb/ft for a 280-300bhp unit?!
