Swedish camp power options
I dare bet many people have an appetite thats beed wetted by Benzines recent post.
So as not to hijack that one.....
From what ive seen so far i kinda get the impression his set up is going to be in the 300 - 400bhp range.
If anyone wanted a more modest 200 - 250 bhp range is there a more compact and easier to fit option from the Swedish camp that can be done on a
budget? Maybe without needing such a significant strip down and chassis modding session.

Volvo 2.3 5 cylinder would be good! matt claydon is putting one in his MK at the moment. There are getrag gearbox options to fit with adapter plates
and they are much narrower that the M90 i'm using I just wanted a straight six ^__^

Have a look at the new PPC mag, they are putting a Saab engine and Vauxhall Omega box in a mk2 Escort.

Sounds like good advice. The problem is to most swede virgins such terms are double dutch. How do these translate in terms of cylinder count /
isplacement / common donor and locost power potential? I enjoyed reading teh pPC article but it too was lacking some detail.
Surely such conversions arent as easy as they sound. There must be little challenges to overcome that can test the budget and patience.

I was totally lost too with the terms. Mine is a B6304
the B means benzin (petrol) the 6 means 6 cylinders, the 30 is 3.0 litres and the 4 is 4 valves per cyclinder
so a B5254 would be a 5 cyl 2.5 4 valves/cylinder

Is swedish camp power more like an ABBA tribute band in drag?
Thanks fior the explanation Benzine - that makes a lot of sense.
Im sure there are people about thinking that they have 120bhp now and 250 would be bonkers, but nice if on a budget. So what would you go for?

plumped in the situation of building a new car , t5engine and box at the back otherwise it does depend on your budget/patience .
all the fwd engines will need an adapter plate or an M90 box which needs some chassis mods , or the venerable old redblock which comes with a rwd box
plenty of tuning options upto 250 bhp for not much money .
trick is getting the turbo in without the steering shaft going right through it or hitting the chassis rail since the engine leans over . Also you
have intercooler to mount up front etc .
NA would be fine (fitment wise)and i consider them better than a pinto .

One advantage of the Saab is that post 1994 they were owned by GM and have the same gearbox mounting as the VX engines so getting a RWD box is not a
problem.
