WTD: Rust proofing "straw" for aerosols (~3ft long?)

I've got a few aerosols of this:

http://www.cromwell.co.uk/KEN7328260K

to rust proof the inside of my chassis. It was recommended to me.

I also bought a big 5 litre container thinking I might use my compressor to get the stuff in.

Having spoken to a friend who restores cars he thinks the easiest for my application would be to use the aerosols as the air gun wands you can get like this:

need quite a bit hole drilling to get them in and the box on my chassis is quite small (and thin - its the 18 gauge "race" chassis hence I don't want it getting any thinner by rusting away!)

However... the cans only came with a piddly little 6 or 8 inch straw and the aerosol wand he showed me was several feet long.

Where can I get one of those from???

Instead of drilling lots of smaller holes I reckon I can do the main long bits of the chassis by drilling a hole in the end of the section and insert this "mega-wand" by about 3 feet then spray and withdraw at the same time (oo-er!!!). This way for the main tubes which run length ways I'll only need a hole at each end which I can then bung with a grommet or similar.

Sound reasonable?

If so where can I get a mega long aerosol tube from?

I've got other tube at home that I could attach to a spray can nozzle but it isn't er... erect enough for me to slip it in any distance

Won't you be riviting ali panels on at some point? Why not use that as an occasion to have a squirt.

I bet you have access to the majority of chassis rails if its a pretty standard build. Any verticals which arn't drilled for panelling could be got by drilling a few holes on different faces of the rail and squirting it in, letting it run down inside.

Sorry I should've pointed out that its already completely built and I'm doing this as part of some winter jobs (including touching up paint on outside of chassis where stones have chipped it off).

For the internal rust proofing though I want to keep the number and size of holes drilled for this purpose to a minimum. Hence the idea of using a mahoosive wand on the ends of the box section.

Guess you mean this one:

http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=9504&frostProductName=Extension+Hose+(60cm)+&catID=28&subCatID=35&FrostCat=Rust&F rostSubcat=Dinitrol

Thats the sort of thing I'm after.

Only bummer is that Frost want £6 post and the item is <£4. £10 for a bit of tube with a brass spray nozzle on the end. Gah.

Not sure, I guess the brass bit on the end that makes it spray outwards in a cone it fairly important to get decent coverage.

It also need to fit on a standard spray can nozzle (which I don't have to had either).

Argh - not being very helpful in order to help myself I am?

Go to the local model shop and look at "snakes", they move the control surfaces on model a/c, the outer is a thin wall flexible tube of between 3 and 6 mm bore, depending on the type, and is about 3 ft. cost £2 or £3. HTH

Emailed Frosts via eBay (while searching for stuff on their) they can do £2 Royal Mail post for small items but you have to ring up - its not an option on the website.

Went for that in the end as £6 all in is ok its the right tool for the job (with the brass bit on the end) and saves me trudging into town during the Xmas rush.

Thanks though to all the cunning suggestions of how I could make something similar.

I wonder when it'll turn up though with Xmas post.

Part of me thinks they prioritise normal post - letters and parcels etc - and put all the xmas cards on to a "as long as it gets there by 24th Dec it'll be alright" pile.

As I've had some small jiffy bags come through as normal speeds recently.
