Why not get rid of the old sensor boss? Mr Angry Grinder to get rid of the bulk of it down to exhaust tube level, then a drill to finish it off.

At least you'll know it's in the right location when you weld a new one in.

I've got some in a box, we have just moved house and the removal blokes did the garage unsupervised so I have a Berlin wall of boxes.

I have to look some other stuff out so will see if they come to hand this evening.
