Its a part of a fuel convertor.
It converts Hydrocarbon Chemical Compunds (Usually found in a liquid form) into heat and mechanical rotary energy.
This part is the Flange Pump Thrasher Unit and comprises of a complex valve assembly which you are looking at on its operating face.
So there... I know what it is

nope.
standard GT is 34.0mm/30.5mm (ex/in)
these are 34.9mm/40.6mm but can go to 36.0mm/43.7mm - the last would need offset guides.
head was 150 off ebay, reasonably well ported but I opened it out a bit more, 320 for unleaded exhaust inserts and new guides plus opening valve
throats for larger valves. plus cost of valves, about 80 soon adds up..... 
spent last night and this morning blending in the opened out throats as there was a step. Used a piece of wire in waterways to figure out how much
metal there was as didn't want to break through
in process of repainting then fit valves and slap onto engine after I determine TDC and make a timing marker to be able to use different pulley.
