Tyres, opinions sought

I am looking for a set of general tyres that satisfy List 1A of the MSA list. They will be used for Hillclimb and sprints in wet and dry...

What do people think of these Yokohama A539

Has anybody got them fitted?

I am currently running R888's but these wont be any good for wet and I don't want to fork out for an extra set of wheels yet.

A539's IMHO are a very good tyre (have used them on tin tops and the Indy) BUT are no longer made so watch the age of them.

The current Yoko equivalent seems to be the Parada which I have on the front of my Indy at the moment - good value and seems to perform well in the wet and dry.

I always found 888's surprising good in the wet, as long as there was no standing water. My mate had A539 on his elise and i had 888's and i was still as quick in the damp

Are you sure because they are listed on Yokohamas website. They are only available in small [12,13 & 14]wheel size.

Check the msa regs for 2010 - it looks like list 1a & 1b tyres are now acceptable for road going classes in hillclimbs and sprints.

Date of implementation 1 JAN 2010
"79. Wheels are free. Tyres (except for Period Defined Vehicles (Non-Rally) A-H inclusive) are to C(e) List 1A and List 1B."

reason: In order to correct the unintended impact on a widespread number of championships and on Period Vehicles unable to comply with List 1A the changes are proposed in order to address this.

I had them fitted and found them to be very good both wet and dry (12000 x mainly wet miles around Ireland).
Just had a set of Parada 2`s fitted last week, 1st impressions, I have to say that they are also very good.
Although I have only done about 50 dry x miles on them

Something about this, so very wrong.....I have to laugh out loud, I wish I didn`t like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi

For 1A the choice is generally:-
Toyo T1R's, Scuddo Stunners or Marangoni Zeta's.

But if you're stuck with 13" rims then Yoko's A539's may well be your only choice anyway..

For next season the general consensus of opinion is it'll be 1A's or 1B's allowed (drivers choice) so your 888's will be about right.
