Feel like i'm wasting my time

Been in the garage all afternoon and finished off the engine mounts on my zetec conversion, great.Engine nice and level and straight in the bay, even got my head around the steering shaft issue.
Then i went to move the car and found the prop hitting the side of the tunnel.
So i had to strip the tunnel top off and found that for some reason that i cant work out,the box has moved an inch to the right and now fouls the drivers side of the tunnel

I have slackened off all of the mounting bolts but for the life of me i cant get it to move back.Getting hacked off now
and starting to wish i had left the pinto in.

Andy

Iv had plenty of days like this before. I find the best solution is to call it a day, get some sleep and go back in the morning. 95% of the time i solve the probelm within an hour (problems that had taken me 2 - 3 hour the previous day)

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I certainly agree re getting some sleep. It's amazing how the brain works stuff out when you're asleep. When I was trying to learn to juggle clubs I couldn't get the rhythym right despite trying for hours. Went to sleep, woke up in the morning and knew I could do it- my noggin had worked it out overnight. Went out into the garden and immediately started juggling clubs. On another occasion back in the day I was trying to work out how to get a computer game to work which fitted on a 1.44Mb floppy (I didn't have a hard disc at that point) but wanted to run off a hard disc. Woke up at 3am and immediately knew that "assign c: a:" would do the job.... which it did..... which was nice. Except I carried on playing the game until I had to go to school the next morning....

Love the fence Speedy..... - Runs for cover... -

I laughed at the Jaaaag gag!

Good progress on the build too. Bite the bullet and spend the £200...... do it, do it, do it, do it, do...

Kindest Regards,

yep, tell me about it

engine swaps are a pain in the wotsit.

in thery mine should have been eaasy, 1300 -> 1600 crossflow, I mean how difficult could it be?

since I didn't want bonnect bulge, I had to chop and move 2 chassis rails, remake my engine mounts and find a snorter oil filter but stick with it ....

The gearbox too has moved in my case, rear sits a bit higher and forwards so still need to remake the bexel for the gearsick gaiter....

I made the mistake of doing it over spring and summer so spent too many afternoons in the garage as opposed to doing something interesting.

it is best to build with the engine of your choice rather thant do it later.

Put the engine back on the crane and try moving it around.

Odds are the engine is slightly out and forcing the gearbox on it's mounting...

Have you any idea of what it costs for the Liebherr crane for that? And it's a contract lift!

know the feeling well ... so I just left if for a week or three ... which is mainly why it took me so long.

then when you return, the enthusiasm comes back.

also make a list of thinkg to do so breaking the job down into smaller chunks; then tick them off when done - always a booster for morale ..... but sometimes you trick off 2 thjinks and add another 4 .... way it is.

Stick with it Andy, you know it will be worth it for next summer.
If it was easy it would not be worth doing.
