don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Ignoring all the comments about the interior decor, (a lampshade? in the garage? it's a bit er..... girly don't ya think P.S.
there's no curtains either) yes, it lives, fired it up this morning and drove it out under it's own steam, even got a working MJ map
sorted, just a bit of tidying left.
Would just like to say a massive thanks to everyone on here who's given us so much help over the last couple of months (not to mention a few
giggles along the way).

As I've just postedon the starter motor thread.
We finally got this sorted last night, it was down to a bad earth. It's a bit strange and we also had this problem with the Crossflow (which is
what suddenly popped up in my brain last night). Our main earth strap goes to a bolt through a chassis member, everything earthed to chassis is OK,
nothing earthed to block/bellhousing earths properly, god knows why. Solved the problem by ruuning another earth strap direct to the bell housing.
First saw this problem on the Crossflow when I moved the main earth from the chassis to the block (on the basis the the block's connected to the
chassis via the mounts so it shouldn't matter) after that we had intermittent missfires/cut outs that we eventually tracked down to the fuel
pump not earthing. Don't know why it should need two but it does.
As soon as we put the new earth in it cranked properly first time, not only did it crank it actually fired up, now that did take me by surprise,
luckily we'd already filled it with oil. MJ worked like a dream straight off (no thanks to Microsoft Vista, we had to borrow a laptop running
XP), uploaded a map that's 'about' right for the engine setup and it's just purring, just need to tweek the map a bit.
Actually we had just one problem, we had to reposition the crank sensor a bit closer to the trigger wheel.

Yeh ive got the same problem with vista.
others have got around it with an express card db9 serial adapter and its also been suggested to try an emulator.
All is good then.
