Poor brakes.
Brakes, sierra calipers on sierra vented discs with MNR pedal box with balance bar operating willwood .625 master cylinder, EBC greenstuff pads.
Absolutely useless for sprinting. No bite till they are hot which is no good for sprinting and pretty useless for every day driving.
Set-up checked and all works as it should. I think it's the pads. Looking for pads which will give good initial cold braking. Not too worried
about trackday performance as I never seem to get them very hot.
Any suggestions please. I have thought to go back to standard motocraft.

The vented discs are part of the problem as they won't get hot enough for optimal breaking unless they're being really worked hard.
I'd be considering converting to solid disc (will help unsprung weight at the same time).

Yup. I'd go for solids. Greenstuff pads are normally quite good even from cold from what I've heard.

I recently did the conversion
(this in on an MK Indy with sierra hubs)
Solid disks were from an early low power Sierra (1.3 or 1.6?)
an eBay bargain at £11 for the pair of NOS disks with damaged packaging..turned out he was only round the corner from me so avoided the high postage
costs
Calipers were from a poverty spec KA in our yard
date with a wire bush and a lick of paint and some new seals from Big Red
Bolt straight onto the Sierra hubs and nothing else required to fit
Old hoses were a bit stressed on full lock/droop, so got a very pretty set from our own Russbost on here
Pads are Mintex jobs 1144 (still boxed)
think there were listed for a Fiesta
again an absolute steal from eBayland
(99p, gobsmacked when on one else put a bid on)
I also treated the system to a new Fiat master cyl (eBay cheapo) and Daihatsu HiJet remote reservoir so fluid can be checked / changed without
spillage due to the steering column being in the way
I also ditched the uno bias I was running as it was weeping slightly (and genuinely not needed as the fronts lock before rears without it)
Breaking system is now excelent, feel and travel wise its a world apart compared to how it was....and didn't cost much to do
Can't say I've noticed the reduced unsprung weight...but every little helps I guess
Regards
Rob

Hi, im new to the site, and have trouble with my locost brakes. when i purchased it, it was fiited with "racing" discs and pads and
offered next to nothing braking under normal driving conditions. ive since changed the pads to standard mintex ones and not changed the discs(solid).
I was wondering if anyone has fitted a remote brake servo to a locost, if so, from what donor?
Look forward to a few expert opinons..!

I run standard sierra vented disks ,pads and callipers and dont have any problems.
stone cold or red hot they perform without fault.
