the Atlas is the stronger version isn't it? as fitted to Mk 1/2 Jags and Reliant Scimitars and various rally cars through the ages

Yeh the atlas is the one to have but the one that sold for £281 on eBay is a koln axle. I'm in middle of removing a koln one from my car as they
are ment to be crap and you can't change the ratio inside them. Replacement is an atlas

It was the Salisbury axle in the Jags and Reliants, used by the Rally Boys though. The Atlas was a Ford axle.
DO NOT PUT ON KNOB OR BOLLOCKS!

Of course it was - please disregard my ramblings

The Koln axle in the ad did go for strong money but they are getting rare now. How many Cortinas do you see driving around?
The axle might not be the strongest in the world but unless yours is goosed why are you swapping it? You can get lots of different ratio's...you
just need to swap the CWP. Also it is not high power that kills the axle but often high torque and generally, 7type cars do not need/have loads of
torque.
Just IMHO

Strong price is almost certainly due to the seller misleading people by describing it as an 'Atlas' axle in the both the auction title and
the description.

And I complained at paying £35 for a Cortina axle with new brakes and cylinders.

I think Mike has hit the nail on the head here... it's the narrow Atlas axles that the rally boys are after. Hope the buyer isn't
disappointed.

Thanks for the replys people. Mark I just see your reply but I'm a little confused as I was told by many people that you simply can't get
the parts such as the Cwp to change the ratio in the kolns. That's why i have bought a Capri atlas with the correct ratio. Have I got the
wrong???

Sam,
I had a Tiger Super six that uses the Koln axle. I had a few different ratios in it and even found a Quaiffe ATB LSD for it. Pictures are in my
archive.
If you have a look on the old ford forums, e.g. retrorides, turbosport etc people do still have them.

Here you go...
Also try these guys. The imported Escorts came with Koln axles.
