Curious starting problem
Just had a day at Harewood Hillclimb (excellent). Parked the car in the field at the top and left it in the blazing sun all afternoon. Came back,
put the key in and nothing - no click no attempt to turn over whatsoever. Some friends had some jump leads so we tried them but it was no different.
Ended up bump starting it and driving the 5 miles home with no problems. when i got it back in the drive it started first turn of the key as usual.
Ive discounted a battery fault (perhaps wrongly) on the grounds that the jump start didnt work - what else could it be?

Pointing up hill. Fuel vaporised and pushed the liquid fuel back to the tank?
Re-read the symptoms. Heat - some metal expanding in relay or switch - failed switch.

Are you using a relay for the starter solonoid? Could be the ignition switch or the starter. If/when it happens again try bridging the main battery
connection to the wire from the ignition switch if the starter works the problem is in the switch/wiring if not then suspect the solonoid/starter. Had
the same problem 3 times in 13 years with my old Citroen XM, never did find it
