Induction noise(db levels)

I`m booked into an evening session at Donnington this month and have a rather loud induction roar due to some wild cams.

I`m running some Weber Alpha throttle bodies(DCOE style) and wondered what other people are doing to reduce db levels??

Try using an airbox setup rather than the small individual filters, that should be a big help.

Unless you use something like an airbox I don't think you have much hope. Sock or sausage filters work reasonably well and are fairly cheap but the penalty is massive induction noise. I could not believe the difference when I changed from a sausage filter which was under a bonnet scoop to a modified Hayabusa air box - it was so quiet

Cheers, Nick

Hi

If you do some research you ll find that the pipercross air box reduces power quite a bit as it's just too small.
Too be honest at Donington when we run the zetecs we just don't accelerate past the noise meters. The induction is only bad on hard acceleration. Just accelerate gently and you'll be fine as long as the exhaust DB is down to below 98DB.
Ours run 95db on the exhaust and 119 db on the inlet when opened under hard acceleration.

Cheers Matt

Thanks Matt. I know there is a meter in the pit wall but do you know where the other one is?
