Turn off system restore, run Malaware, clear cr*p off if any found. Reboot, and turn system restore back on.

Normally works OK.

The system restore can be used by some viruses to retore itself after it has been cleaned apparently.

If its Windoze, the restart in Safe Mode first with Network.
Get Maywarebytes, install then check for updates before scanning.

Do a scan, and see what it finds.

Starting in Safe Mode will prevent a lot of stuff loading, ie you get a minimal working system.
Its fairly important when you have problems.
