Pedals and IVA test
Hi all,
Finally got round to fitting my pedal box! Just wondering if I have to fit rubber grips to the pedals for the IVA? My plan was to use skateboard grip
tape on the pedal faces as they are smooth aluminium and slippery, would grip tape be suitable?
Have taken a good look at the IVA requirements but apart from structure and operation I cant find anything relating to grip on pedals and I dont want
to leave myself with a fail that could be avoided for a few quid
TIA

Good question, and I'd like the answer also.
I did my MOT last October and had the skateboard grip tape on all pedals, it's been the same since I built the car SVA'd in 2009 and went
through all previous MOT's at this same garage with no issues. but last time the chap said it needs to have a rubber cover on the brake pedal.
However he did pass it, and just said next time he needs to see a rubber cover on the pedal.
So I'd like some clarity on this too, maybe rules have changed in last 12 months. Appreciate sometime IVA and MOT rules differ sometimes too.

Wording is there
Its only the brake that needs it and there's no requirement for rubber.
The brake control must be capable of being operated easily from the driving position without obstruction or abnormal hand/foot position and that
the pedal (where fitted) has an anti-slip provision.

I just used ordinary 80 grit sandpaper glued on, never had a problem
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

Go for coarse paper. Tester said the first time that mine could be a bit better... I replaced the 300 with 80 and he was delighted the second time.

I have coarse w&d sand paper on my Fiesta's brake pedal and after a year it's got a big bald patch in the middle so I can't say
I'd recommend it. Maybe sanding belt material would be longer lasting.

I used aircraft wing walk tape. I think I may have some left, if you let me have your address I will pop a strip in the post.
