Steel for RAC/MSA cross brace
I have an MK roll bar with rear stays but I want to add a diagonal brace as a lot of track day comapanies are now demanding RAC/MSA type roll bars on
open cars.
I'm thinking of using 35mm dia 3mm wall 304 grade drawn steel.
Anyone see any issue with this or suggest an alternative grade/type of steel?

Isn't 304 a stainless grade?

Really? I think it's probably right but who's doing this? Interesting.

Whats the spec of the rest of the roll bar. Might as well check that as well if you're going to be modifying it.

From 'The Book' (2nd edition) :
"... and it is stipulated that it must be made from
cold-drawn seamless carbon steel tube of
45mm dia. x 2.5 mm wall thickness
or 50 mm dia. x 2mm wall thickness."
