Update on my insurance claim

I thought i'd post an update about my claim.

This was the original thread http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=96533

I was with sureterm as my broker and the insurance was with prestige.

i must say they were really good with getting the ball rolling.
the car was taken to a local pound, after the fire was put out of course

then it was picked up from there to be taken to manchester to be inspected.
it did take a bit longer than aticipated as the chap doing it wasn't sure how to value it. even though i had sent him loads of reciepts.
i then pointed him to pistonheads so he could get an idea.

once that was all sorted i got a call with an offer, which i could have probably refused and asked for more, but it was enough to build what i had. and i'am eager to start building again.

well anyway i've now got me cheque, which would have been sooner if a finance company hadn't put my reg into the HPI system by mistake! took a week to sort out

so i'm gona build another VortX same engine 05 R1, but i'm not gona bother with quaife reverse this time, as i found it more hassle than it was worth, plus the extra cost. which does mean the car has to be SVA'd before the rule change.
change of colour had orange, now going for the colour of the old Busa demo car, i think it's Ral 3020.
i've already jumped the gun a bit and put the order in with MNR nearly two weeks ago, hoping to pick up mid november which i know is tight for them. but i'm sure they can pull it off

Good to hear you got it sorted and that sureterm have been OK (I'm with them). Your going to have to get cracking if your going to beat IVA.

Spend the money you save from the reverse box on an extigisher system?

Good luck, glad you're sticking with MNR,
to go back to them is the best ad they
can have.

Is RAL 3020 the red? - thought they all
ended up in ditches though

I'm thinking of fitting this

Lifeline Fire Zero 2000 2.25 litre Club Fire Marshal Mechanical System, p/n 101-225-001, £76 from Rally Design.

Anyone any experience of these?

Its a shame the insurance didnt raise enough funds to get the car at least partially factory built but a good result nonetheless. Whilst it must be daunting to have to start again there are always things you can do better a second time around so i hope it all goes smoothly for you from now.

(Unless of course you wanted to build yourself in which case ignore the first comment)

I am looking forward to building again, just not looking forward to the cold garage over winter again

i might get some carpet for the garage or at least for the underside of me shoes

wasn't sure if that was your colour stu, as its looks orangy/red on the mnr site, but is a colour

George, you know what they say. a bad workman always blaims his tools
