Hi,

I am looking into the idea of doing some hill climbing and maybe sprints too. Does anyone have any info on where to start?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Dan

There was a post on here yesterday about Harewood hillclimb next weekend. Seems a few people on here are going mainly to spectate i think. It's between Leeds and Harrogate so not sure if that's a bit far but is on both days so you could possibly even camp given the weather. Otherwise if you google harewood hill their site has loads of info and links to relevant organisations.

You want to go to

www.hillclimbandsprint.co.uk

this is probably the most comprehensive site and the country's organising body.

Applies more to Hillclimbs than sprints though but I'm sure the marshalls will point you in the right direction in either case.

The MSA are, in theory, the organising body. the Hillclimb and Sprint Association are just an MSA recognised club.

Best bet is to find a motor club in your area that supports hillclimb and sprinting, and join that.

IMO Spectate for a day, then do one of the courses, either in your tintop or the kit.

Should tell you if you like it and give you the confidence to start spending the cash doing it for real.

You live in Boston and want to go Hillclimbing!!! I guess you wont be practicing much on the local roads then?

Hope you are prepared for the travelling - but its great fun having gone up Loton Park in Shropshire a few times

Thats what i was concerned about. I dont mind travelling but it can be a pain and expensive. I wonder if there are clubs in my area or anyone know anyone on here in my arer that climbs/sprints?

Thanks for all the other help

The two things you need to do first are:
1. Join a club
2. Get a competition licence
The MSA website (www.msauk.org) is the place for both of these, you can apply for your (non race National B) licence online assuming you've got all your bits attached and in working order and you can find a list of clubs in your area. Go there first, also have a look at Go Motorsport (www.gomotorsport.net) another MSA site giving information about how to get involved in motorsport and the HSA site as mentioned.
