Have many of you guys done this event as me and build partner are considering doing this that would probably be our first track type stuff.
What is the chance of damage, will we need / be better off on different wheels and tyres to our road ones and what is the chance of damage to car /
panels.
We would be looking for another car and two drivers to be in a team with although we have a few other ideas from work colleagues.
Regards Richard
Its for proper cars only this one!
yea, kits seem to be banned, well the invite placed in the kit car forum on pistonheads was removed, the one for Vauxhalls, Lotus etc
remains.........
If your car is a BEC forget it, allegedly to fast, arial atoms for example most welcome though) to fast my ass, still don't know the real reason
for banning BECs but its nothing to do with speed.
Could have something to do with the ridicule thrown at the BEC entries last time out and the utter disgust and disappointment that they where still
running at the end.
Sorry its a sore point, can you tell ?
eta, (with disgruntled head taken off) its actually a very nice event, you wont need anything special, should not suffer any "panel damage"
found it to be a bit "clicky" though a fair few of the entrants where fine just dont understand how if I take out my 893cc engine and
replace it with a 7 litre one the car suddenly becomes acceptable as an entry, ahhhhhh disgruntled head back on think I just answered the question.

you could always do the Biirkett with the 750 motorclub at the end of October
Are there still places for the Birkett?
The entry for the Birkett opens during the summer - so at the moment all places are available :-) You do need to have a Nat B race license and have
competed in 6 events previously (i.e. do not have novice cross) before you can enter though.

Are you still going to do it then Jon?
I have managed to borrow a crossflow westfield so can partner Tom, but we have not submitted any forms yet..... I suppose the BEC restriction has kind
of spoiled my enthusiam.
Anyway to answer the question, your car needs to be fully road legal, take all the docs as they will check lights, indicators etc.
You are whipping around quite quickly, decent standard road tyres should be fine so just make sure the car is in good sound condition, change fluids
etc before launching off.

I also took part in the Mallory 6 hour endurance event along with Wadders and a few others in an all BEC team and would agree with Jon that it seemed
a bit 'cliquey'
I thought the event was great (apart from the weather conditions in the morning) and I'm not so sure that the results were correct, although this
may have been due to the rain and the paper sheets used to record the laps/times. You do get a feel for how well you're doing throughout the
event from your pit crew.
I would say the chances of engine/bodywork damage are minimal. It is an endurance event after all. Just keep an eye on your fluid levels and
temperatures and you should come through relatively unscathed. Certainly both our BEC's came away without damage.

I saw the advert in Complete Kit Car and sent a picture of our Pinto powered book chassis locost to the lady and she said it was exactly what they
were after but did say later that no BEC were allowed.
Might look for some tyres for a spare set of 13 inch wheel we have to replace the nice 15 we use and another cheap set of front arches.
So it looks like Richard and I have created a super team then
My 2nd car for thois event has pulled out so Richard and I are entering his Locost and my Phoenix
what have i done !!!!!!
