Formula Vee Championship

Hi Guys,
Just going through a few ideas of formula's to try and get into for next year.
Come across Formula Vee. Looks good cost wise and good fun.
Only problem is we have no experience in the VW engine and suspension set up. Anyone on here with much info on it?
Has anyone on here been involved in Formula Vee? Whats it like?
I plan on going to some of the meetings to speak to the teams and drivers.
Thanks
Ed

looked at it myself a year or 2 ago,

only problem then was the meetings were always full up, with lots of people on the reserve list and ending up not getting to race.

i think they split it up into 2 classes now, which should have made things better

The 750 club do a lot of Fornula V races, Its evenly matched and they are pretty sharp around the tracks try and get to a 750 race day and have a look around. The beetle enginge is tuneable and quite a strong unit

Hi

I could try and give you a whole load of usfull info. BUT half of it would possibly be out of date or arse about face as such.

For a genuine rundown and quite possibly the most helpful info your likely to get try speaking to Allan or one of the lads at AHS Formula VEE You'll not get any better or more up to date advice that from these guys.

Also. HERE . And more LINKS HERE

Cheers Matt

What about putting a 2L in the Panther and joining in with kits?

procomp - 5/3/10 at 09:34 AM

Hi

Kits. What championship is that then. I seem to remeber somthing that was called kits that used to be quite popular with full grids and friendly competitors.

It's not by any chance that formula with 6 cars registered for this year and no one wanting to race in it cause the regulations mean you have to run self exploding engines in one class. Or build engines that cost more than the car does to build new in the other classes.

Kt Racing is down to RGB - Locost - Mag sevens - NW sports & sallons - SE Semsec sports & sallons.
Even the Westfield championship is down the swanny.

Chers Matt

Its been thought about but...
Being a young driver, 1.8ltr insurance is hard enough, 2ltr is bascially impossible and extremly expensive.
and i still want to have a nice road car
And i kinda want something differnt.

Maybe after the first year of racing i will have to sell kit to fund racing but hopefully can have best of both worlds at the moment.

Anyhow, im going to go to some of the 750mc meetings, so im sure i'll see all the classes and might change my mind.
Thanks
Ed

Or my 3rd reason is what Matt said

2CV racing is cheap (for motorsport) and very close since the cars are all effectively identical. Driver skill is the key so it would be good training when you want to move to something more powerful.

Six? Seriously? That's the end of that then. Perhaps they can race on the same grid as Max5s. They might get 10-15 between them.

Well, you'll get a BIG thumbs-up from me for Locosts. I'm going to miss it badly. Hopefully 13,500 screaming revs and a growing grid will eventually make the emptyness go away (but not this season.) So, its Locosts or RGB for me.

Make you're way over to the RGB forum if you want to know more about the latter.

2CV doesnt really look like my type of thing. Hearing that theres only going to be 6 people in Kits is pretty sad. Looks like another class thats about to die. Im going to go to Snetterton next weekend, so i'll have a look around at the cars then.
