Hi all,
Got a sprint coming up on Sunday at Hethel, now the weather forecast is either
a. Cold and dry
b. Cold and wet
Either way cold, around 9 degrees
Our tyre choices are 15" T1Rs or 13" R888s, which would be better in that sort of temperature as effectively they'll be starting from
cold on each run.
The warning label on my spare r888's say they can crack below freezing but nothing else
My bet on the strength that it may be wet would be the T1's
888s all the way we used to use yoko ao48r tyres in stockhatch rallycross
888s, no question. the rubber compound alone will be heaps better, although the differences in warmer conditions will be more marked over ordinary
road rubber. The 'roundabout' at Hethel will have them lovely and warm though
if its wet, then 888s unless its pi55ing down and loads of standing water as road rubber may disperse water beter
I would go 888s. If it is wet pump the tyres up to open up the treads a bit. On track I run c20-22psi in the wet versus 16psi in the dry.
Cheers
Jim
