Hi everyone,
I really enjoyed the look of rallycross on topgear last sunday, but after a quick look into it, there is no where local that has any races.
So I figured I'd try to find a local race series ran in the north west england in the main - as travelling round to races really isn;t an
option.
So I'm after finding out if there are any regional or single track championships in the north west which are low in cost?
I see three sisters does the MBKC championship - but its karting, plus its over THREE days!! Bit much!
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas?
Cheers
Asking somewhere like HERE might find some answers.
You may have more success with local events by looking at sprints. And if you want cheap and simple, try autosolo's and tests. They really are a hoot, and you will soon find out if competitive stuff is for you. Just find a local motorclub (eg as above) and see what they do.
Hi
Circuit racing - to suit your car - North West Sports Saloons, most rounds at Oulton plus an Anglesey, Mallory Croft & Donington thrown in.
see http://www.barcnw.co.uk/
Hillclimbs and Sprints
Very good regional championship, run by Liverpool and Chester motor clubs
See http://www.speedchampionship.com/
Rounds at all the local North west Venues - Aintree, Loton Park, Anglesey, Harewood, Three Sisters etc

Also worth looking at the gomotorsport site, which has some basic info and is a good route to finding local clubs.

Whilst I thought TG's episode on Rallycross was very good and certainly inspiring, please don't think that the costs are anything like as low as they suggest. In fact I think you could probably double their projected costs and still be a bit optimistic.

I share the striker with my brother - who's also a golfist.. - I reckon if you ran a simplish car, or one in the standard saloon or sportscar class on the hills and sprints it wouldn't be much, if any, dearer than a comparable 'seasons' worth at a good golf club taking memberships and things into account.
And Autosolo's as mentioned above would be MUCH cheaper - that's cheaper than taking the missus shopping that is
