Passed my ARDS today so I'm going to start looking at what series to get into
Like most, I've very budget restricted, but even if I do one race a year, I'm getting out there! ( I think realistically 4-6 races would be
more likely)
So what are the cheapest forms of circuit racing? I want to get my races signed off as my pay will definitely rise year on year and my eventual aim is
to do some racing in places like Spa, Nurburg, Monza etc.
I have heard the MSA Trackday Trophy is a good one to go for in terms of value
I had engineered in the 750mc in formula 4 and there is no way I could afford to run a car in that series!

What are the associated costs? Initial outlay for car and race entry?
Locost - You'll be hard pressed to do it as cheaply elsewhere.
Cars can be had from £4k. Other costs as per usual...

There is a very active 750MC Locosters group on there and costs will be widely discussed I suspect$
I had top-5ish capable car for £4k a couple of years ago but the prices are firm and it needed an engine refresh after a few races. Amazing racing.
I stopped as I wanted to race a bike engined car. It remains to be seen if I did the right thing. Locosts will take some beating though.
If you want to race a locost7 then join the 750mc locosters group on facebook. There are a number of racers on their and they are a freiendly bunch
who will reposd quickly to your queries on racing costs.

Not quite so sure i think mag sevens is a cheap championship but it is a good one...
Otherwise stock hatch? locost? Bmw compact cup looks to be an up and coming cheap formula.

As said above Locost is the way forwards. Reasons. It's aimed at novice racers where they can learn race craft, The costs are kept at a very
reasonable level, The racing is without doubt the closest in the UK for circuit racing ( as voted by Autosport numerous times ) Cars retain there
value due to the championship being so popular.
Costs.
Brand new car built ready to race. 10k - 12k
SH car 4k - 7.5K
Entry fees for a full 14 round championship ( 2012 ) was less than 2k, "2013 will be similar. ( same for most 750Mc championships )
Seasons running costs 14 rounds, Inc entry fees, fuel race and towing, few minor repairs, 1 or 2 B&B's, 4k - 6k
Tyres are relatively cheap. Yoko A539's £250 ( Polly motorsport ) set of 4 buffed and ready to race. One set will do a full season.
One other plus point is that we also have a team championship. This gives a driver who is only thinking of doing 5 or so rounds the chance to team up
with another driver in the same position add there points together and have a chance at the team championship rather than the outright overall
championship. This can be 2 drivers in there own cars or 2 drivers sharing a car.

PS Given up with Mag sevens, Haven't got a 40k budget and the driving standards are poor in the midfield.
I guess it all depends on how competitive you want to be? For example if you did the Stockhatch classic series you could probably pick up a race ready car for some where in the region of £1.5-2k Something I will say is buy a decent trailer if you can don't mess about with home built ones saves so much hassle
