Hi. Im at the rolling/almost running stage of my locost build, with a 1300 xflow. Its being built as a track/hill climb and sprint car but id like to future proof it incase i fancy racing later on. im about to instal the dash and upper part of the bulkhead and was wondering if this needed to be steel or alloy for fire resistance. Or if i can have a wooden dash if the bulkhead is all steel or alloy? Ive looked through the LOCOST NOVICE PACK but didnt find anything. Also if anyone has a picture or 2 of there engine bay i could take a look at that would be appriciated.

Have you looked at the MSA blue book? I would have thought that may give some clarity, but obviously regs can change from year to year... if you’re specifically thinking about 750mc racing I would have thought that the series organisers will be able to give a definitive answer.

2021 MUK Blue Book - Section J

5.2.2. With the exception of cars of Periods A to E, which in
period specification were not equipped with a bonnet or casing
of metal or solid flame resistant material covering and
surrounding the main engine structure, have a protective
bulkhead of non-flammable material between the engine and
the driver/passenger compartment capable of preventing the
passage of fluid or flame. Gaps must be sealed with suitable
flame proof material that completely closes any gap at all times.
