Hi all, as you may or may not know, I'm currently studying a degree in Motorsport engineering, and a side project has been offered to me of conducting a feasibility analysis for a vehicles suitability for the Lombard Rally. This is where a road hatchback is kept virtually stock, and as such is a great way to rally on the cheap. Now the team currently run a mini, but have come across a . . . wait for it . . . Subaru Justy. Now this fits the regs alright, and is 4 wheel drive, so could be an advantage. Just wondering whether any of you guys have ever heard of such a vehicle being used for such events, whether uprated parts are available, experience with the car etc. Its around 5 years old, and is badged in the engine bay as suzuki, so guess its just a rebadged swift?
Anyones thoughts on anything to do with the subject are much appreciated.

The justy is a beast! Been through many - never "officially" raced them but we used to thrash them about the farm alot! They're really solid little cars and as you say 4wd so probably good for rallying. A mate once rolled one. Recovered it with a forklift truck onto the back of a grain trailer. Ratchet strapped it down (bending the roof) and still drove it off at the over end without any hassle....Oli.

don't no what parts are like we had three in total as their dirt cheap and just pinched bits as and when we needed them!

i thought 4x4 was banned in the lombard revival ?
