Morning peeps.

Recently picked up an MK with busa motor. It has the origional wiring loom from the bike as well as the dash.

Everything seems to work fine apart from the speedo. Any ideas what this sensor looks like as i have seen a sensor hanging loose in the engine bay.

Where would it go to pick up a reading? I have seen a hole in a bracket above the prop shaft/drive spline coupler (think the bracket maybe westfield) and have read somewhere that the speed sensor works on moving ferrus metal, which would indicate that this is the correct hole for it.

However, are there any tricks to get the speedo displaying the correct speed as surely the display will be configured for the bikes ratios ie no final drive and tyre size!!

Whilst i'm on......is the oil light there for oil pressure??

You should find it mounted under the engine sprocket cover. It reads a target bolted into the centre of the output shaft. The target has four lugs (with a cross shaped gap between them) if I recall correctly. I think most people relocate the sensor to read off the four bolts on their prop shaft mounting flange. You should mount it so that the heads of the bolts pass within about 1mm of the sensor. Note how it mounts/works on the bike before you take it off.

You'll need a speedo healer which will allow you to correct the speedo reading.

Let me know if you need a speed sensor as I am not using the one I stripped off my 'Busa.

There is an oil pressure switch as standard on the 'Busa motor (has a green/yellow wire I think). Wire it to the earth of a suitable light (I've used superbright LEDs from Maplins)

No thats a temp sensor that normaly screws into the cylinder head.

the one you are looking for is a black plastic thing with a round bit coming out 15mm with a flat side to it. It will most likely be placed near the prop adaptor.
