Assuming you have a quick release steering wheel fitted - do you really need to have a steering lock for SVA?

the way i see the manual is that no you don,t need a steering lock but must have two independant from eachother means of security to stop the car being driven away,
just my take on it but could be wrong

I think you will also have to make it impossible for the steering wheel to be removed whilst driving.

Must admit - I thought removable steering wheels were a no-no for SVA/IVA

You have to have 2 forms of security, which can be either mechanical, electrical or electronic.

Also it must not be possible to activate the security device with the engine running or without switching off first (thats what disallows removable wheels). They also can't effect the operation of the brakes.

There's no stipulation that you have to have a steering lock.

My 2 immobilisers were ignition key and battery cut off switch.

As they both cut the engine apparently that is the same as them not being able to be used with the engine running.
