DVLA

Had my DVLA inspection yesyerday at Leeds all went smoothly. Up to now I have cannot knock the DVLA, I visited the Local office in Leeds and had a good 10 minute meeting and was told I would be contacted within 2 days for an appointment.. to their word they did. They even worked around my work schedule to get me a good appointment time. Arrived in Rothwell yesterday 30 minutes early and was greeted by a very freindly inspector who inspected the car early and was very interested in the build etc. 15 minutes later he stated that I would have all the documentation on my door step in 5 days at the latest to get me on the road. So I know from other's on here this seems very unusual but it does happen.... John

Fingers crossed, luck of the draw.. Looks like Leeds are on the ball.. Mind you Boreham wood got out (and visited) for the inspection in a couple of weeks after posting the application; then I think the application has gone into the "difficult" pile on someones desk..

Ring them if you don't here anything in the next a couple of weeks..

Good luck

Dan

Yeah, you hear the horror stories about the DVLA.

I have to say I am with John on this one.

I too had my inspection yesterday at Maidstone. I hand delivered the paperwork two weeks ago and fixed the inspection date to fit with work. (could have done it last Wednesday if work had allowed).

Inspector was very interested in the build and very complementary. All done in about 10 mins, with a promise that paperwork and reg number would be with me in a couple of days.

Not got them yet, but I am hopeful that they meant what they said.

All in all, a good experience so far. Just the final delivery bit to go, but at the moment, I am tending towards believing them.

Perhaps it's the old thing of bad news travelling fast and good news not being published at all. Mainly because good service levels are what we should be entitled to expect, so don't shout about it when it does go well!!

Just a quick follow up from my last post on here.

Reg number and Tax Disk arrived in the post today as promised.

Don't understand why people have so many problems. Very smooth sailing through the whole process for me.

Perhaps I am just lucky.

So, off to get some plates made and hopefully a quick blat before it pee's down again.

Hi AshG

Maidstone DVLA Office is at:

Coronet House
11 Queen Anne Road
Maidstone
Kent
ME14 1XB

I don't have direct phone number.

Have always found turning up in person at these sort of places if you can, gets a better response.

I made up my own VIN number. 17 letters and numbers, don't use "I's". I substituted the number 1 for "I" and 5 for "S".

Make sure whatever you come up with is going to be unique. I had no problems at all.

I live just off Wises Lane, Borden so not so far from your old address.

Cheers

Mike
