Bike engine, no reverse, no winscreen, full cage - which class?
When I last hillclimbed in 2005 there was no requirement for a reverse gear or windscreen in some road legal classes.
I'm now looking to get another road legal car with a bike engine that doesn't have a reverse, no windscreen and has a full cage.
It seems rules have changed slightly and from first look it deems this car described above as illegal for use in any road going classes? This would
leave me fighting against Sports Libre cars - am I right in saying that?

Its not hard to fit an electric reverse. if you car has lights, reverse and 80mm ground clearance you could race in RGB

Blue book says winscreens are free in open top cars but wont let me in road class with areosreen 14% advantage they say tvr in my class has 3 litre
advantage but that dont seem to be problem anyway i just want to drive up the hill and keep improving my times good luck Ali

Some Hillclimb championships/events require a full windscreen for road cars - although it is not an MSA requirement.
Reverse is required for all road classes.
With regards to bike engines in road cars - OK for "specialist road going cars" but not for "mass produced road going
cars".
i.e. - Locosts, caterfields etc is OK but a Mini with an R1 is not OK.
The R1 powerd Mini would be in Sports Libre (and would need the full Sports Libre safety features - larger roll over bar, 6 point harness etc).
Roll over protection is recommended for all categories including road cars.
There is no longer a requirement to fit reverse to "modified" category cars.
All road and modified cars built after 1999 now require a cat to be fitted.

No, you wouldn't be in Sports Libre.
That spec would put you in Mod Prod.
That spec plus reverse is then Road Going Specialist Production
Unless
You're in the North West, as the club regs (which are in addition to the Blue Book) mandate windscreens for the road going classes - although
the grapevine has it that this will be dropped for next season.
So i would fit reverse personally, or bolt on set of slicks for Mod Prod..

In my neck of the woods, bike engine, no windscreen and a full cage wouldn't stop you running in roadgoing kit car classes, not sure about
reverse though.
