Windscreen Glass

I have finally got my windscreen fitted, but having struggled to get the glass, rubber into the frame I used Fairy washing up liquid as a lubricant worked great. But it has left streaks on the glass after possible reaction with the rubber. How hard I try I cannot get these streaks off. I have tried Vinegar , Mr Muscle glass cleaner lots of elbow grease.
Anybody got any suggestions many thanks
John

How much fairy did you use

Any way to get that crap off use acetone and do it away from the car...........on a cloth and don't smoke...... whilst you are doing it.
Ps put barrier cream on your hands if you still want the skin covering on them after you havr finished.

We had a problem with the industrial cling film that got very stuck to a screen

Glass cutting paste.

Available from Halfrods. with a bit of added elbow grease it gets ANYTHING off glass in my experience.

If you ever see any of the classic american muscle car stuff on m&m they go through loads of restoration stuff, quite handy tips occassionally. Anyways they use very fine wire wool to clean the glass - might be worth a try, very light small circles. Think its a case of paitence and perserverence rather than elbow grease!

Apparently Jeweller's Rouge works well too.

You want something mildly abrasive. Toothpaste or autosol springs to mind...

just wash the windscreen with plenty of water from a hose and a stiff brush, the marks will come off and you need to flush the washing liquid away. It hasn't reacted with the rubber, that’s just the coating left on the seal after it was made (even new rubber had this black stuff on the surface). Quite a common thing, just use a tad less fairy next time
