Cameras at the ring?
Hi all.
Im getting my new car soon. I cant blimming wait!!
I have already booked up a trip to the ring. I was talking to one of my friends that has been before and he thinks the ring is moody about cameras.
When I have gone on other track days in the UK I have used the same set up. My Sony digital camera with a Gorilla pod (great bit of kit). This has
been wrapped on and duck taped to death. Brands have checked it but its never been refused.
Will this be aloud on the ring or do people think I will have to take it off? Will it just be a case of a secure mount or do I need to hide the
camera?
I will have a Raw Striker in case it matters.
Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

No cameras at ring im afraid. Ive seen to many people refused entry with them on. You can put it on after you have gone through barrier, but there can
be marshalls along the track who will report you back to the finish and they will ban you on the spot there!!

i've been twice and they made my mate in the passenger seat put his camera in the boot ( not a good idea with my driving )
your alright once you've gone through the start barrier but until them i'd keep it hidden. for some reason they aint keen on you

Most of the in-car video's on youtube were filmed before the ban came into place.
There are a number of theories about why the ban was introduced

Very temped by a entry spec bullet cam.
- I have an atc2k at the moment and its very neat and stand alone but very much suffered from being a jack of all and a master of non.
Lot of the wscc people have the JXD cameras off ebay (JVC rip off) which are just little compacts but have a video in link so can be used as
solidstate storage with a cheap bullet cam.

I envy you heading to the Ring but my trips there on hold for the foreseeable... I cant justify the cost of the private trackdays and as no UK insurer
will offer me 3rd party liability cover I’m not prepared to take the risk on TF days. The consequences of a simple fluid spill could be life changing
- I don’t fancy being bankrupted or losing my home!
Desperate to go back tho

I went last year, passenger started filming after the start line and put the camera down on his lap when we could see marshalls ahead

I feel that the ring is like Amstadam because its any time now before the boring people get there way and stop what little legal outposts of fun there
are left. A bit of Dam fun and a bit of ring fun. DONT GET THE TWO PLACES MIXED UP!!!
Im bouncing off the walls ready to go though. The funny thing is that I dont even have a car to go in yet! I want to do a track day at Lydden Hill
before I go to iron out any problems. Lets hope I dont iron out the car like the last one . . . .
Oh God I hope I dont crash this car or loose my licence.
No wait Im getting a kit car and going to the ring, happy face! :

The ring is nowt like lydden or any other track ive been on tbh lol!
Playing the track on games is ok, but you can't get a feel for the steepness of some of the hills! You will feel phycially punished after your
first lap!!!

I have one - and for the money it's great. Just make sure you have a class 6 card from reputable manufacturer. Sound is stereo and very good. Do
remember though that I paid £2.86 + p&p and card.
It's actually small enough to put behind your helmet visor
Deffo worth a punt
