Just bought this ex-race car..anyone recognise it?
Does any on recognise this ex-race car (last raced in 2006 I think).
Also, do most cars have an engine fan and eectric fan, or just electric?
I am in the process of fiting new fibreglass panels, rebuilt engine andplan to trackday it, as I don't have the time or money to race
Hope to be at Donington on 23/24 June to watch the racing.
Cheers
Mathew

305 hits, so I gues no one recognises it
How abour the question on cooling... for trackdays should I use engine fan + electric (current setup) or just electric?

i'll jump in then
I'd always use an electric fan, and preferably on a thermostat switch. That way you can run the engine up to temp. Crossflows do benefit from
being kept cool, water wetter is a useful additive, and make sure you don't have any air in your hoses if your on track.

If your just using it on track, an electric fan will suffice.
i use just a manual switch, mainly for cooling on the grid, once going fan is redundant

lol, it's going to annoy me this - I do remember the car (it was ok, never really at the front of the field mind you or I'd probably
remember better!)........ didn't come with a seat for the 'larger' gentleman did it?
Wish I knew what happened to the 1st car I built, it last raced about the same time as I recall - rotting in someones garage I suspect, unloved and
unwanted Mind you the 2nd one is also rotting in someones garage as well but at least I know who's! lol

If you only use it on the track you don't really need either, a fan should only come on when you're sitting for a long period in traffic.

I think it might be Pete Brown who posted some slow times in 2005 (Silverstone 1.57.45 and Snetteron 1.42.33)

Quick update.
Removed rear pannel and tried to replace it with a fibre glass item, but it would not fit, so I fitted a new sheet of ally. I have also turned the
underside of the car into a trailer as I don't have space for a real trailer.
Text
1) Fit rear wings
2) Fit rear lights
3) Check the old escort engine and remove engine fan
4) Find a private road for a shake down (any ideas where I could go in Derby? I know a farmer nearby but his drive is on 0.5 mile).
5) Fit some Yoko 048 tyres and give it a good clean
6) Book a trackday

Looks like the old huntingdon regional college car that i used to race against between 1999-2001. Driven at the time by malcom mitton.
Hope this helps
