Sytec Walbro In Line Competition Fuel Pump

My car has been standing for about six years with the fuel system drained. Filled uup with some fuel , went to circulate the fuel through the rails but no fuel moving. The pump is making a noise that sounds as if it is working, un removal the exit side of the pump is dry. Put the pump inlet in to petrol and connected it up there is a sound and feeling of movement but no pumping! Any pointers please. On googling the pump for a replacement there seem to be two types, one in the UK for about £105 and ebay China for £55! I am assuming that the second one is a copy?

When you tested it with fuel at the inlet did you have a positive head? Many pumps will not suck (yes yes)

Stacks of copy Bosch type 44 pumps on the inter web - probably get what you pay for
