Anyone recommend good routes (or a website) for driving in Northern Scotland (not in the 7)

I'm looking for suggestions for a route around Northern Scotland (North of Fort William) that would be suitable for driving over the space of 1 week. Not going in the Indy so slightly longer distances not a problem.

Any websites or anyone done this and found a good route themselves?

The back roads from the Fort to Inverness are nice, also the Black Isle is a great run.

There is also Oban?

not that many roads up there to chose from tbh. Where are you staying, camping / caravan?? Going to Skye on the car ferry seems a must (I’ve steered the previous one when I was wee ).

Oban has a nice camping site and is pleasant in the summer, further up it’s a barren waste ground that looks like its been in a nuclear war

It will be raining at Fortwilliam, its always raining there

I've driven the 1000miles right round Scotland in a day using the Falcon, great fun...it was raining in Fortwilliam then too

OOhh... I'm going to Isle of Harris in April. Not in the Viento, we'll be towing a 12 metre high radio mast all the way from Cambridge, and going to play radio's for a week.

(IOTA - Islands on the Air).

We did this in Mull last year.
10 of us, all good mates and no wives, dogs, or girlfriends. Just plenty of beer, food, along with lots of Airtime and good scenery.

Only two months to wait

Great Fun except for the petrol bill

I've been there 2 or 3 times... and yes, it was raining each time!

I drove on the road that's on the south side of Loch Ness (the main road's on the north side). Nice, scenic, quiet - and has one of the wickedest hump-back bridges I've ever driven over unexpectedly! A real heads-on-rooflining job!

Last months EVO magazine featured a nice run in a McMerc SLR. I'll dig it out and let you know where they were.

I lived in Scotland for 6 years. Been to Fort William a few times and it was always raining when I went too. Like Whippy said there's not much on the West coast but I mind running a huge relay from Fort William to Inverness and there were some nice roads there.
Alternatively I used to like the roads between Inverness and Aberdeen. Good for driving and cycling and I know Fozzie enjoys the ones near Nairn.
