Newlands, Surrey meet this Sunday?
James - 12/1/09 at 06:35 PM

Well, as discussed, here's the place I mentioned. It's actually in Brookwood (not Brooklands!) (approx' 5miles west of Woking, 5 miles north of Guildford).

Charlie's Cafe. Open from 9am.

I can't find a web page for it but here's a map linky:

Charlie's Cafe

If travelling west along Connaught Road (A324) then it's on your right, just opposite the entrance road to the station.

It's next to a taxi office, an off-licence and Hairtrillos the hairdressers... so everything you could need!!!

It's no beauty spot like Newlands but it does allow a sit down in the warm and a full brekky.
Brekky is about a fiver.
There's usually parking for plenty of cars at the front. Atleast 10 cars would fit there IMO.

Wanna give it a try?

Cheers,
James

Now, for those of you who actually have their sporty cars on the road, there are two amazing driving roads within about a mile of Charlie's Cafe.

If you head West along Connaught Road along the B3012 to here:
Brookwood Circuit

then you can see Gapemouth Road (known as Pirbright Bends) and Brunswick Road (known as Deepcut Bends).

These are two brilliant driving roads and, as you can see, re-join in Frimley, to form a rather nice circuit!
(Ignore the B3015 Deepcut Bridge Road between them as the army stole it! )

No-one I know of is yet to set a lap time.... maybe Sunday will be the day!!!

Cheers,
James

Used to trials ride on the Normandy side until the local area commander decided the little scrotes riding their field bikes across live firing ranges meant everyone on a motorbike was an irresponsible hooligan - moi?
See you's Sunday if the weather's OK.
Cheers, Pewe

im SORNED but it would be a good meeting place. give some feedback on how it turns out, because its a great drive from mine (camberley) to brookwood (as said above)

whats the thinking behind moving away from newlands, is it a winter thing, to get some warmth ?

BEWARE! those roads are VERY slippy this time of year, they take enough victims in the dry, let alone this time of year.

Not a full time move away from newlands corner, really a winter venue where we can have a seat inside.

If it works out ok it could be a good venue for november through to febuary, although i am sure some of us will still visit Newlands during the month.

Hi all. I'm up on the blocks SORN as well but hope to be back up and running soon. I do a lot of bike riding along the 3012. It is a fantastic ride and I am looking forward to getting the car round there, however, I second Meeerrrk's warning as pretty much every time I'm up there, there are some fresh flowers tied to a tree!!

theconrodkid - 14/1/09 at 07:39 PM

weather looks rubbish for the weekend
could be tin tops all round?

bob - 14/1/09 at 07:45 PM

breakfast will still taste the same

scutter - 14/1/09 at 08:33 PM

Popped in there earlier, got the price list.

Regular breakfast is £3.95 and 'The Hungry' is £4.95!

Bunch of other stuff as well, sarnies, stuff on toast etc.

Actually, yeah, Merk is correct, it can be pretty hairy.
I used to commute that way and at least once a week some chav seemed to have stuffed their Saxo into the trees!

bob - 16/1/09 at 06:55 PM

I had a bit of time thursday morning so i satnaved my way over there myself, not as far as i thought which was a shame but at least its all normal roads.

Shame about all those roundabouts though
