im going to newark in my indy but it has no form of alarm/ignition as i removed my ignition and steering lock to fit my paddles

should it be safe enough at newark or should i bring my beautiful merc vito??

i reckon it'll be fine if you're really worried, take out an ht lead, or the fuse for you ignition system, or disconnect the battery, or, or, or

I bet your car can be immobilised effectively for the show. You wont have any bother from fellow enthusiasts but it is a public show.

As said alread, get boxed in or pull some leads off. Is wheel removable? I usually take a bike chain to shows and lock the steering wheel and helmet etc to the roll bar.

I have the Sterling Cat 2 imobiliser.
Have worked well for 3 years now.

I ran Hot melt glue all around the case to ensure its sealed from the elements.
Its got to be worth the 5 mins it took.
As changing will be a pig where I put it!

Fitted it myself. Got the local VSIB alarm company to check it, and they wrote me a VSIB certificate fro £10 fee.
I then got an insurance reduction for having a Cat2 imobiliser. (easily get the £10 back in reduced insurance)

I hid mine up during the build. Its almost impossible to get at now. although I know exactly where th wires run in the lom, so could by pass it within 15 mins or so.

Just make it difficult to get at the box, and the relay wiring hard to trace (dont run the wires outside the existing wiring cover. Take the time and effort to put them in the conduit / sleeving. It makes a neater job and harder to defeat.

If someone really really wants YOUR car. They will get it. ie Hi-Ab crane onto a lorry job etc etc.

Just make it difficult for the joy riders and casual thieves.

You can get those Big heavy chains with the nylon mesh covers at Newark for about £10 ish. Pop one through a wheel and a wishbone.

i went to the garage at about midnight and connected an ignition switch up which if removed or hot wired will not start the engine!!
then i added a master switch which kills the power to the starter motor (i wonder if anyone will notice the race car has lost a master switch )
so it should be safe enough
