Locosters Map
Ben_Copeland - 22/9/09 at 07:08 PM

Well the map is now very full. Infact annoyingly its gone onto another page....
I've had the idea of splitting it up into regions!?!?

Bit annoying for me as i have to input a lot of the data again into different maps.

So what other options can you lot suggest?

We need to split it up so we don't have multiple pages with people living 10 miles from each other on different pages.

why two maps? can you only have so many entries on each one?

Perhaps a different sorting method

Cars actually on the road
and ones that are still being built

Ben_Copeland - 22/9/09 at 07:18 PM

Yeah, theres a maximum you can put in.

I thought about taking out the meets and companies etc, but locosters locations alone take almost the first page.

Yeah, but then i could soon become out dated and need updating as cars come onto the road. Although i'd be safe with some of you

Have one map for CECs then one for BECs where they are all put on the Principality of Sealand

Split it into two maps, those with access to the shop and those without!

Is this not just telling people where to nick cars from???

mistergrumpy - 22/9/09 at 07:31 PM

What about breaking it down into a few maps of MK, MAC,Luego, Locost etc. owners. Or else England, Scotland, N.I.,Wales and other or else BEC V's CEC maps?

No, its only showing the area, not their postcode/address

Keep it as it is.

Regions must be the best way to go ?!

What is the map's purpose? If it is to see who is located close by (ish) to contact and get / lend assistance to or go out for a blat etc etc then regionalising the map makes sense. There is nothing stopping us looking at different regions (maps) if need be.

IMHO

I think regions is definately the way to go. But how many do i split it up in?

South East, South West,etc

Or South, Midlands and North, then scotland/wales.

I've never played with Google maps 'till this evening and oddly if I import the map to "my maps" within my Google account and go to the second page I get two tick boxes appear at the bottom of the page,
these seem to allow both pages to be displayed at the same time?!?

In theory I think theres a way (appart from viewing it all in google earth) to view all the locations at once.

Also made a fresh map with random markers placed and got up to about 300 placemarkers before I got bored without getting pushed onto another page, how many markers are on the Locost map?
Will poke about more tommorow when I'm less drunk

The only way to do that is to take all the data from page 2. make a new map and put them on that.

Then it would be possible to select the 2 different maps merging them together.

BUT you cant link to that... so anyone that wanted to see it would have to physically click both up to show them
