At the Newark Antique and Collectors Fair. A group of barstards have just fleeced me and two others for a total of £3000 by slitting the bottom of a
side pocket in a pair of Cargoes and removing the contents i.e. readies.
Now the plain clothes DSC on duty was very co-operative and helpful and took full statements. But did add that these gangs work in fours. 1. Phone to
accomplice to note target with readies in the pocket (exact pocket) 2. Person comes along to slit trouser pocket, bum bag strap or what ever, 3.
remove readies, 4. pass on readies to fourth.
Victim shouts "Iv'e been robbed" and points out 1st or 2nd or even 3rd gang member (even if they have known they have been fleeced) and
then when old bill arrives nothing is found and 1,2,3, gang members kick off for wrongful arrest.
No.4 is calmly walking away with your (my dosh)
His final comment was that these gangs tend to be Eastern Europeans. I find his comment shocking but have to accept his view and having led a
sheltered life thus far, is this your experience??

I walk around in these places not trusting a sole, keeping a tight hold of everything. I also scan the area I'm in looking for dodgy bastards and
constantly keep my eyes, ears, and sense of perception wide open.
When I see anyone dodgy I like to keep an eye on them and see if they are fitting anyone else up also.
To this end, no watches, gold or otherwise goes to the show. Wallet, camera and phone next my nuts in front pockets. No more cash thank I'll
think I need to buy the beer.
Never amazes me seeing peeps walking round with bags wide open or blokes flashing huge rolls of cash (jealous on that one)

Sounds a lot like a chain letter to be honest. Over the top explanations, claimed verification by persons of authority and no real advice.
Now I've had many accidents with tools and I'd be surprised if anyone could slice your cargo pants pocket open to get a massive roll of
notes out without both hands and being exceptionally obvious.
Also if the cops search this 3 remaining Eastern Europeans, do they not think its odd that they are carrying knives to slice open pockets.
I have no doubt that people get pick pocketed and being careful with your money is sound advice, but I doubt its as extravagant as this.
I know someone who lost 2 phones at the nec. Pick pocketed. Anywhere with crowds of distracted people it will have pick pockects, same with
supermarkets, trains ect.

And hands in pockets. I've lived in Edinburgh City Centre for 4 years now and this is how i keep my belongings on me and not with anyone else.
But £3k In a cargo pocket??? Surprised they didn't just bonk you over the head and take off with the money just to make sure they got it!! I am
in no way saying it is your fault but we all have to be sensible in the amount of cash we are carrying about. I never have more than £40 in my wallet.
If you are paying big for something tell them to put it under the stall for you, then go and get the money out and go straight back to the stall and
hand it over, saves wlaking around all day with ££££'s in your pockets!

i've just tried to do it on my tatty old work combats and even with a brand new stanly blade, 2 hands and not rushing, it was a bit of a challenge. sounds a bit like BNP bullocks to me. i have heard of backpacks and bumbags being sliced before but this seems a bit farfetched.
A friend of mine had the same thing happen to him in a hospital car park, one member bumped into him, appologised, and walked off, when he got to the hospital he went for his wallet, fortunately it was still there but he found his back pocket neatly sliced open. They obviously failed in this instance but I think they just wait for the wallet to fall out.

A company I used to work for used to buy a lot of stock from Newark Collectors Fair.
The boss used to regularly take 5 or 6 grand in cash, in used notes to the fair.
Then again, he used to keep an old Merc 308 van which produced clouds of blue smoke, wear a jumper with holes in and a Benny wooly hat, to look like a
poor scruff.
Then he'd haggle like a bastard..........
He was so tight, he used to make us hide in the back of the van to save paying the entry fee.......

Combats are pretty strong. I use scalpels regularly and as sharp as they are they'd struggle with combats.
Maybe, and this will upset some, if the government changed the open door policy to immigration then these europeans wouldn't get blamed. But aren't WE european too?

TBH nothing knew. There were signs "beware of pickpockets" in the old Bull Ring in Birmingham.
... and the slitting of handbags is a speciality practised in Madrid - I heard about it over 10 years ago.
and off courese it is the foreigners that are at fault.
My Mum was ripped off while in Derriford hospital in Plymouth. The thief then used her cards in the hospital cash point too but there was no camera on
it, they were all pointing elsewhere! 
The young white British girl who admitted it as a "taken into consideration" when caught for other crimes was part of a gang who steal for
drug money.
Nowhere is safe! And if you resist you'll probably get done for assault, so make it worthwhile!
