twin engined yorkshire karting
JoelP - 6/6/04 at 07:27 PM

went to the bradford track this afternoon, on the twin engined karts. WOW. they were damn quick. my eyes were vibrating so much i couldnt see where i was going most of the time! But it was fun, the karts actually need respecting cos they can get sideways even if you are going quite fast!

for £25 today we did 15mins in the normal karts, then 15mins in the twins, which seems quite a good price. not a terribly smooth circuit (outdoors) but fun nevertheless.

does anyone fancy coming down sometime?

Good price ;-)
If you like karts - which I do, honest.

However...
My 2 hrs open pit lane session at Knockhill on friday cost me £38 and there was no sign whatsoever of a sound level meter.
Xflow with two unsilenced barking webers and a sidepipe sir ?
No problem !

Thirty Eight Quid - for two hours on a racetrack.
We like it cheap us Scots, oh yes

there was a white kart there, apparently a rotax engined one (whatever that may be) being hooligan'd out by an old japanese guy who reminded me of that mr niagi from top secret! bloody lunatic, he really was hanging on for dear life. slippy course, he was going so sideways round some corners the thing actually looked like a rally car! proper power slides rather than tail waggers. sounded two stroke ish though i stand to be corrected!

so whens good for anyone who wants to come? next weekend?!

Viper - 6/6/04 at 11:01 PM

The kart in my avatar is a Rotax max, 28hp, on a long circuit will do 110 watercooled 125cc direct drive and has electric start.

greggors84 - 7/6/04 at 02:37 AM

Been karting long viper? Have you just raced rotax?

Viper - 7/6/04 at 06:11 AM

Used to race gearbox back in the early 90's when i weighed bugger all and went like stink, just got back into it with the rotax but i am too old and far too fat to keep up with the quick boys,
still bloody good fun though..

Sounds good to me - let me know when.

ned - 8/6/04 at 03:29 PM

Viper,

do they still do a heavy class? they used to do a 100 heavy class i think. I used to run a tkm but never got round to racing it, just practicing whilst helping my mate run his 125 gearbox. for the benefit of those that don't know 125cc 2 stroke, 40bhp i think and 130mph at thruxton i've been told. The 250e's are the ones to watch though, 250 twin, 150+mph, 1 inch off the ground!

Ned.

i want one with a bike engine in, probably not worth it due to the weight, but good for a laugh! or a smaller one with a turbo! that would be wild to handle!

Viper - 8/6/04 at 05:05 PM

Ned
yeah they still run heavies, they call the heavy version of my class Rotax 175 as in 175 kg all up wieght, me being a fat git i have to run with the heavies which suits me coz most of us are old gits too

some time this weekend or next. without rereading the thread, was it alan and andy so far interested? anyone else? i reckon 2 or 3 local mates will come too. any prefered times/days?

Ive seen a video of a bike engined kart. Was wheel spinning constantly in any gear. Was interesting when he tried to go round a corner. Didnt take long before he blew a tyre.
I think i posted a link on here a while ago. Its on a site with loads of nurburgring videos.
